In these uncertain economic times significant staff turn over is likely to rear its burdensome head once again. Working in such a climate can be a significant challenge for numerous reasons including a loss of productivity, profitability, corporate knowledge, and skills and competencies.
It can also be hard to maintain a relationship with an organisation with high staff turnover, and it can be difficult to know how to effectively communicate with them through this period. Often correspondence between organisations relies on staff to staff communication, and the loss of one of these members effects the way the organisations interact.
In our experience dealing with this successfully depends on employing multiple strategies. It is important to ensure effective internal communication practices are in place, sound reporting practices are implemented and effective orientation of new staff occurs.
As we have mentioned in this newsletter previously the distribution of orientation packages is a strategy PHC RIS has employed to overcome some of the barriers staff turnover presents.
The orientation packs are a way of communicating and restoring corporate knowledge of our organisation. The packages are designed to introduce new staff members to our products, services and staff; and highlight those that are most relevant to them.
To ensure their accessibility and in adapting old methods to new media these packs are now available electronically. If you are new to the PHC sector and would like to better understand PHC RIS, order yourself a FREE orientation pack today at <www.phcris.org.au/orientation/>
