Divisions Online Reporting System: Launched

     Simon Patterson, PHC RIS

PHC RIS was engaged by the Department of Health and Ageing in December 2008 to further develop and enhance the Divisions Online Reporting System. A broader overview was described in the previous PHC RIS infonet article.1

Stage one of the project related to the Planning and Reporting components with a focus on critical level functional requirements to allow Divisions and State Base Organisations (SBOs) to enter data and submit their 2008-09 six Month Reports on-line. The Divisions Report component was launched on 9 February 2009 and the SBO Report component was launched on 19 February 2009.

PHC RIS has built on the core on-line infrastructure developed for the 2005-08 reporting period and will continue to develop further components. Examples of some of the latest new features are:

  • collection of data to match the new National Quality and Performance System (NQPS) structure eg. Programs/Focus Areas/Indicators/Result Tables
  • one system for submitting Multi Program Agreement (MPA) reporting requirements (including access to the financial template where appropriate permissions exist)
  • validation of data to comply with National Performance Indicator (NPI) guidelines and to check for either issues that prevent report submission (eg. the sum of the sub totals cannot be greater than the total) or anomalies that simply keep the user aware of certain aspects of the data
  • some Result Tables show baseline data shown alongside current report data (ie. when available from MBS, ABS, etc.), facilitating commentary on changes over time
  • internal submission of Plan/Report to organisation CEO before final submission to State/Territory Office (STO), to assist with internal checking by the organisation
  • assisting the communication and approval process for State/Territory and Central Office relevant programs
  • etc…

As part of this project PHC RIS is also developing an updated component to allow all users to view Division and SBO 2008-09 Reports. In the meantime, please view the 2007-08 Reports via <www.phcris.org.au/divisions> using the existing system, and even let us know how it could be improved!
