|
Ellen McIntyre, PHC RIS
PHC RIS generates, manages and shares information and knowledge to inform, influence and enhance primary health care practice, policy and research. In 2008 PHC RIS aims to achieve this by continuing to work in partnership with our three stakeholder groups: the Divisions of General Practice Network, primary health care researchers and primary care policy advisors.
To address our strategic goals, in 2008 PHC RIS will undertake the following:
Strategic Goal 1: Better understanding of primary health care research and activities
- Identify and respond to the information needs of key stakeholders
- Scan the environment systematically to identify emerging issues, resources and ideas that may contribute to policy and enhance stakeholders' performance.
- Analyse, interpret and synthesise information about activities, performance, outcomes and gaps in the Divisions Network and primary health care research.
- Develop capacity to measure impact of information.
- Generate information targeted towards specific stakeholders to inform, influence and enhance practice, policy and research.
Strategic Goal 2: Improved access to data and information
- Display and disseminate data and information using methods tailored to the needs of different stakeholders.
- Support users in providing and accessing information.
- Maintain and where necessary, develop new information management systems for collecting information from the Divisions Network and components of the PHCRED Strategy.
- Evaluate efficiency, effectiveness and appropriateness of PHC RIS IM systems.
- Evaluate effectiveness of dissemination methods in achieving uptake and knowledge transfer for different stakeholder groups.
- Undertake innovative product marketing to raise awareness of PHC RIS information products.
Strategic Goal 3: Enhanced sharing of information and knowledge.
- Initiate and participate in multifaceted communication approaches consistent with current evidence of effective practice.
- Enhance collaboration between Divisions of General Practice, researchers and policy makers.
- Provide feedback to providers of data that contributes to improving their outcomes and performance.
- Conduct applied research to enhance the sharing of information and knowledge.
- Promote methods and value of sharing information to stakeholders.
We look forward to working with you in 2008.
