PHC RIS in 2006: what we achieved

     PHC RIS team

In 2006, PHC RIS informed, influenced and enhanced primary health care practice, policy and research by generating, managing and sharing timely relevant information.

We generated

  • eBulletin: 990 subscribers (plus Department of Health and Ageing intranet)
  • Annual Survey of Divisions (ASD): over 700 bound copies of Making the connections requested
  • Primary Health Care Research Impact Project providing timely advice about the value of collaboration and effective relationships
  • PHCRED: analysis identifying the importance of career pathways, networks and funding for researcher development
  • PHCRED strategy promoted extensively
  • Two FOCUS on… bulletins to promote enhanced practice and research transfer.

We managed

  • PHC RIS website: functionality continually updated and enhanced
  • Division Benchmarking Tool, Division Mapping Tool and Division Profiles: developed to provide broader access to information about the Divisions Network
  • Customised purpose built web interface for collecting ASD data was successfully implemented
  • National Quality and Performance System (NQPS) Division and SBO Plans and Reports: commenced development of web platform
  • PHCRED Strategy: information on our website kept up-to-date and available
  • Communication Strategy for PHCRED Phase 2 developed in collaboration with the Department
  • Roadmap of Australian primary health care Research (ROAR) database expanded and gained popularity with researchers
  • Increased subscriptions and circulation of all PHC RIS products
  • Contributed to peer reviewed journals, conferences and newsletters.

We shared

  • GP & PHC Research Conference Optimising Impact convened in Perth, 5-7 July 2006, attended by over 300 delegates with 192 abstract submissions received
  • GP & PHC Research Conference Working Together : details finalised for Sydney, 23-25 May 2007
  • Individually tailored feedback (from ASD data) provided to each Division indicating activities they engaged in and highlighting differences between Divisions
  • PHC RIS infonet and eBulletin promoting PHCRED activities, achievements and events
  • PHC RIS staff continued in their roles as knowledge brokers
  • Continued to collaborate, engage and learn from stakeholders (and others).
