What ROAR shows us: what is in it and the benefits of the content

      Jess Tungthamthiti, PHC RIS

The Roadmap of Australian primary health care Research (ROAR) contains information about Australian primary health care research in four areas:

  • researcher profiles
  • research projects
  • research organisations (including university departments and research centres)
  • funding organisations.

The potential users of ROAR include researchers, policy makers, funding bodies, and practitioners working in the general practice and primary health care sector.

ROAR aims to provide a comprehensive range of information relevant to researchers, policy advisors, funding bodies and practitioners, to:

  • Raise awareness of current and recently completed primary health care research.
  • Reduce duplication of research effort. Your research projects are less likely to be unnecessarily duplicated
  • Facilitate collaborative research partnerships. Researchers looking for potential collaborators or mentors can identify and contact you
  • Promote research expertise. Your area/s of research expertise will be promoted
  • Allow policy makers to identify and contact you about your research and expertise
  • Save you search time and effort! ROAR, being on-line, is accessible internationally and 'open' 24 hours a day.

To date we have 156 profiles, 475 projects, 160 research organisations and 27 funding organisations listed in ROAR. If your profile and projects are not yet in ROAR, we would like to invite you to submit your information. The electronic submission forms are available on the ROAR web page at http://www.phcris.org.au/ROAR

You can include a photo to accompany your ROAR profile by sending your photo by email to roar@phcris.org.au
