What does PHC RIS do?

PHC RIS generates, manages and shares information and knowledge to inform, influence and enhance primary health care practice, policy and research. PHC RIS achieves this by working in partnership with three stakeholder groups: the Divisions of General Practice Network, primary health care researchers and primary care policy advisors.

Our vision

PHC RIS envisages a well informed and responsive primary health care sector which can meet the health needs of Australians because decision makers in practice and policy can obtain sound evidence from relevant and rigorous research and evaluation conducted with practitioners, consumers and policy makers.

Strategic goals

In the context of this partnership, PHC RIS’ strategic goals are to achieve:

• Better understanding of primary health care research and activities
• Improved access to data and information
• Enhanced sharing of information and knowledge.

PHC RIS aims to:

• Generate knowledge about activities and outcomes of the Divisions of General Practice Network and primary health care research
• Manage and facilitate access to data and information regarding the activities and outcomes of the Divisions of General Practice Network and primary health care research
• Increase and promote sharing of information and knowledge among the Divisions of General Practice Network, researchers and policy makers
• Operate the organisation to the highest standards of governance.

To meet these aims, PHC RIS will:

• Work with stakeholder groups and facilitate networking between them
• Collect, analyse, interpret and disseminate information and knowledge in ways that maximise uptake of the information
• Develop and provide information infrastructure
• Scan the environment systematically to identify emerging issues, resources and ideas relevant to our stakeholders
• Market PHC RIS as an innovative responsive organisation.
