PHC RIS Annual Report 2008

       

Highlights

Throughout 2008 PHC RIS engaged with and learned from stakeholders so that we could generate, manage and share information about Australian primary health care.

Generate

PHC RIS:

  • Sent out PHC RIS eBulletin weekly to 1741 subscribers
  • Sent the bi-monthly newsletter PHC RIS infonet to 1023 hard copy subscribers and 954 electronic subscribers
  • Produced Moving ahead. Report of the 2006-07 Annual Survey of Divisions of General Practice, by collecting, checking and analysing data from 119 Divisions
  • Produced three issues of a new product named RESEARCH ROUNDup, focusing on current research developments and policy makers’ needs in a two page format
  • Rapidly prepared a summary of key issues in International Developments in Primary Health Care at the request of the Department of Health and Ageing
  • Highlighted the achievements and outcomes of the PHCRED Strategy through the launch and wide distribution of Snapshot of Australian Primary Health Care Research
  • Synthesised the 2007 annual reports of university departments funded through the Research Capacity Building initiative.

Manage

PHC RIS:

  • Continually updated and enhanced the design and functionality of the website
  • Added 109 profiles to the Roadmap Of Australian primary health care Research (ROAR) which received an average of 2932 hits on the website per month
  • Maintained the customised web interface, for Divisions and SBOs to complete their 6 month and 12 month Reports for 2007-08 and Annual Survey on-line
  • Prepared a public interface to display Division and SBO reports based on the National Quality and Performance System, enabling users to calculate aggregated national and state results for quantitative National Performance Indicators
  • Produced and updated resources on Divisions including: Divisions Profiles, Mapping Tool, Benchmarking Tool, Key Characteristics, and more than 100 Fast Facts pages
  • Received over 1500 requests for information from stakeholders and provided responses to 99% within one working day.

PHC RIS:

  • Convened the GP & PHC Research Conference Health for All? in Hobart, 4-6 June 2008. Renowned speakers attracted 354 delegates from Australia and overseas
  • Provided individually tailored feedback (from ASD data) to each Division, SBO and AGPN
  • Increased the number and scope of popular web resources for Divisions
  • Staff continued in their roles as knowledge brokers for researchers, policy advisors and other organisations, through many personal interactions, six workshops, contributions to external newsletters, nine journal articles, 12 conference papers and three posters
  • Promoted the activities, achievements and events of the PHCRED strategy, the Divisions Network, researchers and policy advisors through PHC RIS infonet and eBulletin.
