Results of the 2004-05 Annual Survey of Divisions (ASD)

The Primary Health Care Research and Information Service (PHC RIS) conducts the Annual Survey of Divisions (ASD) on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing. As part of their contractual obligations, all Divisions of General Practice are required to complete the Survey which includes questions about their membership, activities (including population health) and infrastructure for the previous financial year. Consequently, the results provide a comprehensive overview of Divisions and summarise the broad range of activities that they are involved in.

Feedback to Divisions

Initial reports containing individual feedback for all Divisions were mailed on the 10th January 2006. This year, Divisions were offered the opportunity to correct omissions in their surveys.

This year, in order to increase the benchmarking capacity and usefulness of the feedback to Divisions, additional information has been provided.

Divisions are able to compare their responses with the responses of Divisions in Australia, and Divisions belonging to their:

  • State
  • Rural Remote Metro Area (RRMA) category
  • Population categories (including population in Division, per GP FWE, and proportion recorded as Indigenous)

Divisions were also provided with a summary page indicating items where they differ from most Divisions in the same categories as them. Please note that information provided in the individual feedback is confidential. Network members do not receive identified information about other Divisions, however, Divisions are free to share their information.
