The 2012 Snapshot of Australian primary health care research

In response to positive feedback received from previous editions, PHC RIS is producing a fifth Snapshot of Australian primary health care research. Like previous Snapshot issues, the 2012 Snapshot will showcase outstanding examples of local primary health care (PHC) research which has been funded through the PHCRED Strategy.

Snapshot highlights practice and/or policy relevant PHC research projects and findings and demonstrates the capacity of such research to improve the health of Australians.

The Snapshot of Australian primary health care research 2012 will be launched at the 2012 PHC Research Conference in Canberra 18-20 July 2012

The 2011 Snapshot of Australian primary health care research

This fourth edition of Snapshot was launched at the 2011 PHC Research Conference themed Inspirations, collaborations, solutions in Brisbane 13-15 July 2011 by The Hon Mark Butler MP, Minister for Mental Health and Ageing.

This 2011 Snapshot presents the outstanding work of 11 primary health care researchers who have been awarded grants through the Primary Health Care Research, Evaluation and Development Strategy. This 2011 edition focuses specifically on efforts to improve Australian's experience of their health care system.

The 2010 Snapshot of Australian primary health care research

This third edition of Snapshot was launched at the 2010 PHC Research Conference themed Primary health care research and health reform: Improving care in Darwin 30 June-2 July 2010 by the Minister for Indigenous Health, Rural and Regional Health & Regional Services Delivery, The Hon Warren Snowdon MP.

This 2010 collection is relevant to the key directions of primary health care reform in Australia. The studies focus on people and their families, prevention, chronic disease, multidisciplinary teams, quality improvement, workforce, and Indigenous and rural disadvantage.

Snapshot

The 2009 Snapshot of Australian primary health care research

This second edition of Snapshot was launched at the 2009 General Practice and Primary Health Care Research Conference by the honourable Mark Butler MP (Parliamentary Secretary for Health). A transcript of this launch is available from the Department of Health and Ageing website.

This national publication follows on from the inaugural issue released in 2008 and highlights recent Australian research projects that demonstrate the potential for primary health care research to improve the health of Australians and draws attention to 12 projects from all around Australia that are producing real tangible benefits in areas like indigenous health, child and youth health, chronic disease and remote communities.

The 2008 Snapshot of Australian primary health care research

The inaugural Snapshot of Australian primary health care research was launched in 2008 by the federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon and received significant attention from the national media and policy advisors from the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

The research represented in these publications has been funded by the Primary Health Care Research, Evaluation and Development (PHCRED) Strategy, a program designed to improve Australia’s capacity to produce high quality, relevant primary health care research.
