Phase three: 2010-2014

Over the period 2010-2014 the PHCRED Strategy will build and communicate an evidence base to support decision making around primary health care, focused on the priority areas of the National Primary Health Care Strategy which are:
- Improving access and reducing inequity
- Better management of chronic conditions
- Increasing the focus on prevention and
- Improving quality, safety, performance and accountability.

Centres of Research Excellence in Primary Health Care - Round 3
APHCRI is now calling for Expressions of Interest for the third round of Centres of Research Excellence funding. Eligible applicants are invited to submit Expressions of Interest to APHCRI by 9 December 2011. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to submit a full proposal by 20 April 2012. Successful applicants will be announced in June 2012. See the APHCRI website for details.

APHCRI announced three Centres of Research Excellence (CRE) worth $2.5 million to undertake research focused on key health reform challenges.
CRE for research in accessible and equitable primary health service provision in rural and remote Australia

CRE for research in building quality, governance, performance and sustainability in primary health care
(CRE in Primary Health Care Microsystems)

CRE for Indigenous primary care intervention research in chronic disease

NHMRC/Primary Health Care Research, Evaluation and Development (PHCRED) Fellowships
The Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA), through the PHCRED Strategy, are supporting a number of post doctoral Career Development Fellowships (CDFs) for the 2012-2015 award period. These post doctoral fellowships are an outcome from the October 2010 PHCRED Phase 3 Australia wide consultations. The fellowships are administered by the NHMRC.
