The Review Implementation Committee (RIC), in a meeting on 3 November 2004, agreed on a model for the implementation of a new planning and reporting framework for the Divisions Network, as an integral component of the National Quality and Performance System (NQPS). The changed reporting requirements under the NQPS which included a structured set of National Performance Indicators (NPIs) were introduced for the 2005-06 period. The Divisions Network use the NPIs to produce their Annual Plans, 6 Month Progress Reports and 12 Month Reports. The 12 Month Report is a compilation of all information from 1 July to 30 June.

Initially reporting in Word format, the system moved on-line in February 2007. For more information on this move see the NQPS Planning & Reporting moving on-line webpage. The establishment of this on-line reporting mechanism allows for easier collection and faster public display of information.

In 2008 the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing revised a new set of National Performance Indicators (NPIs) under the NQPS which captures data from four focus areas: Access, Prevention, Chronic Disease Management and Uptake of National Initiatives. These new NPIs came in to effect for the 2008-09 reporting period.

WHO does the network consist of

The Divisions Network currently consists of Australian General Practice Network (AGPN), 6 State Based Organisations (SBOs) and 113 Divisions of General Practice (Divisions) including 2 DGP-SBOs (ACT and NT).

Completing the Annual Plans, 6 & 12 month Reports

The Divisions Network is asked to use the on-line Planning & Reporting tool, which is available through the Division Information Online System.

Set up to streamline the NQPS requirements, the on-line system allows:

• The Division Network to enter and submit their plans and reports to their relevant Department of Health and Ageing State/Territory Office (STO)
• STOs to assess and approve submitted plans and reports
• On-line public viewing of reports once more than 50% have been approved

VIEWING PLANS AND REPORTS

All available Division and SBO plans, reports and summaries related to the reporting requirements that span 1998-today can be accessed via 'Divisions Network Reporting: An overview of available data'.

Under the reporting requirements the Division Network is also asked to complete the Annual Survey of Divisions. PHC RIS has been contracted by the Government Department of Health and Ageing to conduct this survey since 1997-98. Data from the ASD is presented in a variety of formats to provide valuable information regarding Divisions' activities.
